Principal's Message

Welcome to OCV Secondary School

The OCDSB, and the team at OCVSS is committed to ensuring that students across the city who have opted for virtual, remote learning programs receive a meaningful and enriching academic experience.

Students at OCVSS have a full range of academic, co-curricular, and social learning opportunities. More than just a "fallback" for those that can not attend in-person classes, OCVSS is building a full-service option for academic success for any learner that wants (or needs) a remote learning experience. With close 350 students at OCVSS this year (2023-24) we are pleased to be well under way with establishing the kinds of supports and opportunities that can turn a "virtual" school experience into a "real" life changer for our students.

During the last 36 months of remote learning, we have heard from students about their desire to connect with peers, stay engaged in clubs and activities, and build a sense of community in our online schools. Within the first couple of weeks, OCVSS will be establishing a “Virtual Cafeteria” to help facilitate these kinds of connections. The virtual meeting space, supervised by OCVSS teachers and educational assistants, will provide a regular meeting place for students to be able to hang out with friends during the break, play games, and allow for student-led clubs to naturally evolve. We will also be re-establishing our Student Councils to ensure we have a strong student voice in our decision-making this year.

We are dedicated to creating a culture with high expectations where students grow academically, and emotionally and to building the 21st Century learning skills that will be critical for all learners in the years to come.

We look forward to working with you to provide the best education for your child.
