Dear OCVSS Parents and Guardians
The OCDSB has sent an update (May 25th Message to Families) regarding the status of school openings. We are pleased to share that OCV Secondary (9-12) and Intermediate (7-8) will be open tomorrow May 26th. Please note that OCV Elementary (K-6) remains closed.
Please note: Several staff are still experiencing sporadic and unpredictable power outages - some classes will not have a teacher today. Students should check their virtual classroom for asynchronous work if a teacher does not arrive to their scheduled meet.
We recognize that not all families will be able to resume classes right away. Teachers will be accommodating of each students' individual circumstances and adjust timelines as needed to ensure students who are still without power are not disadvantaged. Should power outages continue beyond this week, additional direction will be provided for students that can't access the learning management systems (Google Classroom or the VLE)
We know that many families and staff continue to experience challenging circumstances. In the event of an unavailable class, a message will be posted to the Learning Management System (e.g., Google Classroom) as soon as possible. As the situation is very dynamic, we do anticipate staff shortages tomorrow and may be forced to cancel some classes at the last minute. We apologize for any inconvenience, but hope that by resuming as many “normal” activities as possible during this time that we can begin the process of getting back to routines.
